When is the camera recording?
The camera is powered on when the ignition is powered on and vice versa. The camera is recording as long as it has power.
If you would like the camera to record while the ignition is off, we offer a delayed shutdown up to four hours on the camera. If you have a delayed shutdown, after the ignition is off, the camera will remain powered on from the constant power source and will continue to record up to four hours based on your delayed shutdown setting.
Does the camera shut off?
Yes, the camera will power down after the ignition is powered off.
What storage of SD card does the camera use?
Maximum Approved Size is 128GB.
Can the camera save footage without an SD card?
No. The camera does not record footage without the SD card. Please take special care to return the SD card to the device after retrieving any desired video footage.
Can I connect my Geotab to my cameras?
Yes. SureCam has seamless integration with Geotab telematics.
Can I keep my forward cam and just add a dual cam?
No. The Forward-facing and Dual-facing camera models are independent of each other. If you would like to upgrade to a dual camera setup, please reach out to Support for more information.
Can I see traffic on View/View Pro?
Yes. To view traffic, log onto track.surecam.com and type in your credentials. On the lefthand side of the panel, click onto the Applications tab and click the dropdown menu. Under the dropdown menu, click onto SureCam Plus where you’ll type in your credentials again.
To view traffic in the area, click onto “show traffic” button (see below).
What’s the camera quality?
The quality of each camera is 720P.
The frame rates for each camera model are listed below.
- Forward-Facing Camera Model only – 25 frames per second
- Dual Camera Model – Split 12.5 frames per second
Will the camera tell the driver that I’m doing a Live Check?
No. You can conduct randomized safety and policy checks by remotely monitoring the status of the vehicle without notifying the driver.
Do the cameras have night vision?
Yes. The cameras are equipped with an infrared component to enhance night vision.
Can I hook the camera up through my trucks ODB to get more alerts (fuel, etc.)?
No. For SureCam cameras to operate properly, they must be installed, according to the SureCam wiring scheme.
Can I turn on the mics on the cams?
In order to adjust your device audio settings, you will need assistance from a Support team member.
