Need additional footage from one of your Surecam devices that didn’t get triggered and auto-uploaded by an event?
SureCam’s Video Request feature gives you easy remote access to the video available on your SureCam devices without needing to touch the camera itself. Customers find this useful for:
- Getting visibility into issues brought to your attention by your drivers
- Investigating calls/complaints from the public
- Retrieving additional footage before or after an incident involving one of your vehicles
Follow this how-to guide to learn how to retrieve non-event triggered video.
On the SureCam View platform, locate the desired vehicle from the ‘Live’ page or locate the trip of interest from the ‘Trips’ page, using the search field and filter options to make your search quicker:
‘Live’:
‘Trips’:
Once you’re viewing either the vehicle required from the Live page or the trip from the Trips page, click it.
If you’re actioning this from the ‘Live’ page, scroll through the trips displayed for that vehicle, and click the trip of interest. Example: I require footage from VRN VN21ZPO at c.09:10 from Sept 11th, so I would choose this Trip:
By clicking the trip, you can now proceed with initiating a video request for footage from that trip.
The trip selected will display on the map and you now have the footage reel icon available:
When you click this button, you will see two options:
Option 1: I need a preview
This option is best if you are not sure about the exact time and location during a trip for the video of interest. It allows you to upload large amounts of video at a lower frame rate so that you can quickly locate the exact footage you are looking for.
With this Video Preview option, you will be able to upload up to 20 mins of footage at a frame of 1 image per second. This will allow you to quickly review the footage and find the exact event you are looking for. Once you have found the exact portion of the video you need, you can request the full frame video in either a 30 or 60 second clip.
Option 2: I know what I am looking for
This option is best for directly requesting full frame rate video if you know the exact time and location on a trip you are looking for.
Selected your preference? Let’s go!
Pro Tip: You can change the map view to satellite and use the Google Street Map character as additional helpful tools to help you find the location of the required footage.
Clicking on the black trail will change the timestamp on the top left of the screen to reflect the chosen point in your trip. The segment of the trip will display in pink to reflect your selection, move your mouse along the trip and you’ll see the pink area follow your cursor.
You can also elect to click on the timestamp in the top left of the screen and adjust the time of interest. The map will be updated to reflect the chosen time by highlighting that portion of the trip in red.
Use the ‘Preview Length’ bar to extend/shorten the requested portion of the trip , or for Video Requests, use the ‘Video Length’ selection to toggle between 30 and 60 seconds.
Once you’re happy with the highlighted area detailing the portion that will be requested for upload, click to submit your request:
Select ‘’Request Preview Video’’ or ‘’Request Video’’
Note: You can request either a Preview or Video Request when the ignition of the vehicle is on or off, but for the video to upload, the vehicle ignition will need to be on to connect and transmit the video.
Where can I find the video?
Once the video has fully uploaded, it can be located in one of two places.
The first in the trip details page:
The second is in the alerts page:
We encourage you to rely on the Video Preview feature when you are not clear on what 30 or 60 second portion of the trip is needed.
On 100% completion of its upload, you can view and download. Downloading will allow you to store the video on your machine for as long as required.
